Breakfast at Baker’s
Square included: Clay Heckman, Bob Burns and friend Chris, Frank Ormonde,
Phil Brownell, and Rich Mample joining Leonard Lloyd. The gas stop before
the ride created two waves or riders, each looking to catch the other. Silverado
Trail begins just a block north, followed eventually by the turn onto
Monticello where true riding can begin.
The ideal temperatures
and the early fall colors as the harvest is completed made for a sensual
ride. Even the deer seemed more relaxed, crossing the road between
motorcycles without causing a mishap.
The two waves joined at Moskowite Corner,
only to reverse positions for the balance of the day. Even the planned stop
in Pope Valley, at the end of Chiles Valley Road did not reunite the group.
The descent on Howell Mountain Road returned us to Silverado Trail for the
scenic ride to Alexander Valley, Geyersville and the planned lunch stop at
the Dry Creek General Store. The deli there has become too popular, so both
waves rode on to separate lunch destinations and home. It was a great day to
be with friends on motorcycles.
