Additional information regarding upcoming rides.

Sat, July 26th
(south) -- Lake Arrowhead Loop (leader, Brian Wood, 661.255.3271)

We will have two starting/gathering points -- Santa Clarita (5/14 freeways) and Sunland (off the 210).  For those of you meeting in Santa Clarita, we will meet at 9:00am, gassed up and ready to ride, at the Carl's Jr. at the corner of San Fernando Road and Sierra Highway (map: 20425 San Fernando Rd) in Santa Clarita (just off the 14 freeway). There's a good spot for bikes in the SE corner of the parking lot.  Anyone wanting to meet earlier at Carl's Jr. for breakfast is more than welcome to do so.

From Newhall, we'll take Little Tujunga Canyon Road through to Lake View Terrace and over to Sunland for our second gathering spot, Starbucks at 8349 Foothill Blvd. (map).  We should be there no later than 9:45am, so if you are meeting us there, please be gassed up and ready to ride by 9:45am.

Heading out of Sunland we'll ride up Big Tujunga to Angeles Forest. If everyone's up for a longer ride, we'll head up Angeles Crest to Newcomb's Ranch, then back down Upper Big Tujunga to Angeles Forest Hwy.  Regardless of whether we take the excursion to Newcomb's or not, we'll take Angeles Forest to Mt. Emma to Big Pines Highway to get through the forest to Highway 2.  Then, it's over to the Cajon Junction where we'll go up the backside of Arrowhead and through Twin Peaks and Blue Jay to get to the lake itself where we'll stop for lunch.

While at Lake Arrowhead for lunch, I'll have a free 1-year membership to give away to one of our non-HSTA riders who joins us for the ride.  I'll randomly select one non-HSTA rider from the group and give the membership away before heading off for lunch!

Returning, we'll come down the "front" via 18 all the way down to San Bernardino before heading back up to Cajon Junction via I-215 and I-15. We'll take 138 briefly to Lone Pine Canyon Road to Big Pines through to Mt. Emma. Time permitting, we'll find our way to Lake Elizabeth Road before heading up Lake Hughes Road to Castaic where we'll end the ride.  Anyone making it to the end of the ride (whether in Castaic, or Valencia if we pull up short) will be treated to a drink at the local Starbucks (the "finishing cup").

If you think you're going to be able to make the ride, let me know (v908 at yahoo.com) so we know how many to expect...
